Ivy Invades London
#57. Ivy Invades London

Operation: Ivy League is a project to plant ivy on corporate London architecture. It is a natural appropriation organized by residents and commuters as an attack on dull and homogeneous buildings. Thirty-five ivy plants were installed in the city centre on structures identified as boring and targeted for cover-up.
Helen Nodding is inspired by the hardiness of urban plants to draw attention to their activities in the city. She is based in London. The Space Hijackers are a group of “anarchitects” formed in 1999 to combat the erosion of public space by corporations and the imposition of top-down planning.
