Johann Santini Aichel (1667-1723) was a Prague architect born into an immigrant Italian family of masons. His mixed heritage formed the basis for the hybridity of a decidedly Baroque-Gothic and a regional idiom that — as I demonstrated through my research — acculturated the stile all’italiana within the Bohemian architectural traditions.
Dirk De Meyer is an Associate professor, Dept. of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Gent since 1994. He has also been visiting architecture professor in Prague, Venice, Tillburg, Antwerp, Rome and Milan.
Dirk De Meyer was a Visiting Scholar at the CCA in 1999.
