Join us for the opening of the first installment of the 2019–2020 Out of the Box exhibition series, dedicated to the works of trained architect and conceptual artist Gordon Matta-Clark, whose writings, photographs, films, correspondence, and select artworks were produced between 1969 and 1978, and donated to the CCA by the Estate of Gordon Matta-Clark between 2002 and 2011.
Yann Chateigné, the curator of this first exhibition in the series, will reflect on Gordon Matta-Clark’s material thinking through the lens of his highly diverse personal library, in order to reveal lesser known references, singular conceptual articulations, and visual investigations that lie behind the radical critique of architecture the artist briefly unfolded during his decade of artistic practice.
The presentation will be followed by a reception and the opening of the exhibition.
Free, fully insured childcare is available for kids three years and up who can use the washroom independently, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Offered in collaboration with The Lion and The Mouse.
Livestream on 6 June, at 6:30pm
