The Urban Unknown - CCA Youth Collective

Call for participation
Workshop, in English and French, 25 September 2025 to 27 November 2025, 5pm to 6:30pm

The CCA Youth Collective is a 10-week program for young people to explore and understand architecture and the city through a critical lens, culminating in the making of a publication. Beginning on 25 September and concluding on 27 November 2025, the sessions will take place every Thursday from 5pm to 6:30pm.

By fostering creativity, leadership, and critical thinking, the program will equip teens with the means to engage thoughtfully with urban spaces and address pressing social issues, while developing tangible skills in curation, design, publication, film production, public programming, and research.

This workshop allows youth, aged 15–18 years-old, to further develop their interest in design, architecture, and art. By connecting youth with professional mentors and resources, participants will develop a collective research project with the support and knowledge of the CCA team.

This is a free bilingual program, open to 15 candidates from across Montréal. The call for participation opens 1 August (see link below). On completion of the program, we are happy to support participants by providing professional references and volunteer hours.

2025 Edition: The Urban Unknown

With the CCA’s Public and Publications teams, participants will develop an open research project and present it in a unique way. This year, participants will produce a zine publication that shares their research on the Urban Unknown from their own perspective and through their chosen mediums: photography, drawing, writing, graphic design, etc. They will learn about book-making and publishing from conception to graphic design and production, resulting in a zine that will be printed and distributed at the close of the program.
