Today the urban environment is challenging city residents with a measurable increase of health concerns and issues. Pollution, pollen, food production, combined with lifestyle conditions such as decreases in physical movement and rising stress levels are causing a considerable boom in new forms of illness, intolerances, allergies, asthma, obesity and more. How are architects, urban and landscape designers critically responding to these increasing health concerns and issues that challenge our society today? Candidates for the 2011 CCA Master’s Students Program, on the theme of Health/City, were invited to formulate a research proposal.
