What value do we grant to existing buildings? What political tools can Quebec’s architects and residents employ to resist demolitions?
We invite you to explore and discuss these questions as part of our exhibition To Build Law, currently on view in our Main Galleries, and during a conversation organized in partnership with Héritage Montréal’s Next Generation Committee. We will explore different strategies related to building requalification, such as material circularity, temporary occupancy, and methods for determining a building’s heritage value, as well as the various standards and regulatory and environmental issues related both to the rehabilitation of historical buildings and existing construction.
Schedule :
1:30pm: Introduction to the exhibition To Build Law
2pm: Screening of the documentary To Build Law
3pm to 4pm: Discussion in the Shaughnessy House with Xavier Brochu, general director of Brique Recyc, Albane Lainée, general co-director at Entremise, and Josette Michaud and Pierre Beaupré, founding architects at Beaupré Michaud et Associés.
This event is free and open to all with a reservation.
If the activity you are interested in is full, do not hesitate to arrive 10 minutes in advance to register on a waiting list. It is possible that places will become free before the beginning of the activity.
