Presentation drawing for a Rococo trompe-l'oeil ceiling
1714-1742
- This presentation drawing depicts a rectangular ceiling with a central oval compartment from which six trompe-l'oeil columns, decorated with a spiral motif, emanate at equidistant intervals. The compartments between the "columns" are decorated with grotesque motifs, and the areas at the juncture of the cornice and "columns" depict either busts of putti protruding from Rocaille, or various types of urns.
