Passe-partout style housing with image plate under a white paper mat with decorative motif and under glass. A thin, gold coloured metal frame holds the object together.

Inscription:

inscribed - by the photographer, in black in, on a paper label, verso: "Aussicht aus den vorderen (südlichen) Fensterns des zweiten Stockes der Administrator-Wohnung zu Rothehütte am Harz. Vorne der Hüttenplatz mit Eisensteinhaufen und dem Springbrunnen; dahinter mein Geburtshaus (Haustür rechts zur Hüttenschreiber - links zur "Freitor"-Wohnung). Links von diesem Hause die Buchalter-Wohnung - rechts Arbeiter-Wohnhaus." signed - in black ink, verso, l.r.: "D. (?) E. Biewend/Fec.(?)"
