Physical characteristics and technical requirements:

- The book is comprised of 24 photographs, 3 composite photographs and 1 photomechanical print. - Contemporary binding consists of brown cardboard covers with a photomechanical print (PH1981:0028:028) mounted on the front cover. The covers and pages are bound with a brown cord. Following the title page of yellowish white wove paper there are 27 light yellowish brown laid paper pages of which the first three are imprinted with text and the remainder are mounted with images on the recto and imprinted with text on the verso; the last page has no text on the verso. The images are mounted at the top corners, except PH1981:0028:001 and PH1981:0028:028, which are adhered by their entire verso surfaces to their secondary supports. Each image, except PH1981:0028:028, has an impressed and imprinted square border in brown ink, and each image, except PH1981:0028:001 and PH1981:0028:028, has a title imprinted in brown ink at lower centre. There is a detached sheet inserted in the album which is stamped in black ink with a decorative design, Chinese characters and: "TRADE MARK / Made in / CHINA".

Inscription:

imprinted - in letterpress and brown ink, on the cover, u.c.: "Picturesque"; and in white lettering, in the image, c.r.: "Hongkong" imprinted - in typescript and brown ink, on the title page, t. to l.l.: "Picturesque / Hongkong / Photographs by - . / DENIS H. HAZELL / [printers' ornament] / PUBLISHED BY / YE OLDE PRINTERIE, Ltd., / HONGKONG. / ALL RIGHTS STRICTLY RESERVED." inscribed - by an unknown hand, in pen and black ink, on the title page, u.l.: "Best Wishes / for a Happy Christmas. / Ho[d]ge." imprinted - in typescript and brown ink, on the 3 pages following the title page, recto and verso, t. to b.: with the forward of the book; and in typescript and brown ink, on the remaining 24 pages, verso, t. to b.: with text, including descriptions of the subjects of the images on the facing pages
