- The sheet has an old fold through the c. Some of the edges are frayed and torn, with some old repairs, and trimmed unevenly.

Inscription:

signed - by the etcher, in the plate on the image, l.l.: "E. Petitot inv. et sculp." inscribed and dated - by an unkown hand, in the plate below the image, l.l. to l.r.: "Prospettiva della Seconda Macchina de Fuochi d'artifizio rappresentante un Idea alludente alla nuova scoperta del Teatro di Erculano, che il perfetto gusto, ed intendimento dell'antichità Romane / della MAESTÀ del RÈ delle due Sicilie di Gerusalemme, &c., &c., &c., con immenso dispendio, è venuto à ravvivarne la memoria, che s'era cancellata dall'oblivione di tanti Secoli trasandati, e stata tuttavia si può dire ampiamente ricompensata tale spesa, e cura, dalli acquisti d'innumerabili tesori di Statue Equestri Consulari, Busti, Colonne di preziosi marmi, / Inscrizioni, e quel che giunge à maraviglia Pitture di ottimo gusto istoriate, serbate intatte dall'ingiuria di così lunga sepoltura, parendo che la sorte abbia riservato à ricono= / scere unicamente il sublime Merito della MAESTÀ SUA di questo tributo così specioso, per rendere in questo sempre più glorioso IL GRANDE SUO REALE NOME. / Fatta incendiare detta Macchina da Sua Ecc.za il Sig.r P[ri]n[ci]pe.
