Second-year architectural design studies made at the Armour Institute of Technology
1939-1940
- Group of student drawings by George Danforth for the second-year architectural design class taught by Mies van der Rohe at the Armour Institute of Technology in 1939-1940. Mostly studies of or for structural details of steel-frame construction such as window embrasures and joints in metal beams. The works were accessioned in the groups that they were received in.
Mostly graphite, with some pen and black ink and some red pencil

- The drawings are stored with the brown duo-tang folder which originally housed the sheets. There are two holes on the left-hand side of each sheet where they were inserted into the duo-tang.
inscribed - on many of the sheets, by Mies van der Rohe, in graphite: "crit." and "MVDR", sometimes with date inscribed - by the draughtsman, in pen and black ink and graphite, throughout: with building parts and materials, calculations, measurements and other annotations inscribed - on DR1990:0027:001, by the draughtsman, in pen and black ink, u.r.: "ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN / STUDIES - 2nd YEAR / PROF. L. MIES VAN DER ROHE / 1939-40 / George Danforth" inscribed - on DR1990:0027:141, by the draughtsman, in graphite: with a list under the heading of "DETAILS COMPLETED"
