Design for a coat of arms surmounted by a cardinal's hat
ca. 1630-1640
Pen and brown ink over black chalk underdrawing
sheet: 24.4 x 17.8 cm
DR1981:0017:049
- This drawing was probably formerly laid down on a secondary support as were many of the drawings in the group DR1981:0017:001 R/V - DR1981:0017:079 R/V. There is discolouration at the l.r. which indicates where the page may have been turned. The escutcheon is rendered in pen and black ink, and the emblem of a bird and two towers is sketched onto the sheild in black chalk.
