The cover is from a design by Sir Edward Burne-Jones, Bart. The text has been selected to illustrate the subjects of the pictures, thus forming a series of Studies in Both the Arts of which Mr. Ruskin is known as a master--the Art of Drawing, and that of Literature"--Editor's preface, page [5]
