Phillips, R. Randal, 1878-
The £ 1,000 [i.e. thousand pound] house / by Randal Phillips.
London : Country Life, 1928.
144 pages : illustrations, plans ; 24 cm
Written in 1923, the aim of this book is to illustrate that an architect-designed house could be built for less than £1000. By providing details of 45 such projects completed since the First World War, the author shows that well-designed houses could be built at no greater cost than houses erected by speculative builders, which he considered were "notoriously bad in design."
