Stefan Drzwiecki was a Polish scientist and engineer who worked in Russia and France. He distinguished himself in aviation and ship-building, developing a method for the manufacture of ship and plane propellers and a general theory for screw-propeller thrust. The French Academy of Sciences honored him in 1920 for his work in the development of modern propellers.
