Each part was originally issued in maroon paper wrappers, printed in gold.
"Associate artists: W.P. Romans, Frank H. Nowell, Asahel Curtis, Tromas [sic] W. Tolman, Wylie T. Dennison"--Title page verso.
Photogravure reproductions of photographs, many copyright by W.D. Harney or F.H. Nowell, of wilderness views, urban and rural views, Eskimos, mining areas, railroads, etc., with accompanying descriptive and historical text; "Seattle and Alaska; Seattle and its environs" signed W.C. Bayles; "Alaska" signed Thomas S. Nowell. The photogravures are printed in various hues from sepia to grey; many have tints of blue and grey and are protected by guardsheets.
