Terra di promesse, di contrasti fra tradizione e innovazione, esempio di un nuovo modello sociale fondato sul concetto di comunità umana, il continente africano, protagonista della mostra al MAXXI dal 22 giugno al 4 novembre 2018, è analizzato da un punto di vista innovativo che porta a interrogare il visitatore sulla sua conoscenza del luogo e della sua vitalità al di là degli stereotipi. Il MAXXI, all'interno del percorso di studio sull'interazione tra Europa e le aree mediterranee, si propone come una finestra aperta su scenari di dialogo tra le diverse culture: in collaborazione con il Ministero degli Affari Esteri e la Cooperazione Internazionale, il museo ospita i lavori e progetti site-specific di 40 artisti che raccontano il proprio continente indagandolo nella dimensione di spazio urbano. Il volume che accompagna la mostra, è arricchito da saggi e interviste di autori internazionali come Marco Scotini, Sumesh Sharma, Edgar Pieterse, Akinbode Akinbiyi, Bonaventure Ndikung.
