The presentation surveys the photographic documentation of the Bahrain coast by photographer Camille Zakharia. The urban transformations in the last 30 years have redrawn the Bahraini landscape and triggered the development of a contemporary vernacular culture. The presentation examines the artist<U+2019>s illustration of the multiple ecological effects of land reclamation and the appropriation of the coastal areas by local users as public space. The event was part of the lecture and film series "L'enseignement du-- Moyen-Orient"/"Learning from-- the Middle East ".
