Summary:

Charles Davis II discusses race-in architectural history, as part of the weeklong workshop and seminar series Toolkit for today : activisms. Davis is Assistant Professor of Architectural History and Criticism at the University at Buffalo, where his research examines the historical intersections of race and style theory in modern architectural debates. He is the author of 'Building character : the racial politics of modern architectural style' (2016) and co-editor of the forthcoming book 'Race and modern architecture'. Toolkit for today : activisms, interrogates the different forms that engaged practice can take for scholars of architecture. But what counts as activism? How can architectural research be mobilized in the service of society?
