Summary:

Sandra Millikin takes a close look at Hill House, perhaps the most perfect of Mackintosh's houses, built in 1903 at Helensburgh, near Glasgow, for the publisher Walter Blackie. Besides indicating how the design responded to the needs of the particular client, Millikin also suggests the ways in which the house related to traditional Scottish forms and to Mackintosh's other work.
