City Unfinished research project at the Faculty of Architecture of the Estonian Academy of Arts takes a look at the big picture in the city of Tallinn, and the concerns and opportunities of modern urban planning. The research project is focused on a shared interest in seeing Tallinn as a sustainable, competitive city where future generations would be happy to live. If we wish to have as broad an agreement as possible on future ambitions and developments, we need to tap into the knowledge of various parties shaping the city, look to the future, get an idea of the concerns and see the potential for making the city a better place. The research project outlines fragments of this new compre­hensive picture through six major topics (planning practices, green networks, centres, prefabricated housing districts, the city uncomputed and Tallinn 2050).
