Summary:

Johnstown was once the leading steel producer in the US. At its peak, it boasted 18 steel and iron plants and also produced chemicals, textiles, bricks, and lumber. However, by 1988, as industries began to shut down, Johnstown was starting to experience the gradual decline that has come to define the Rust Belt.
