Summary:

The Pierlucio Pellissier fonds, 1946-2020, documents the conservation and restoration projects led by the architect, restorer and professor Pierlucio Pellissier between 1996 and 2003. The fonds includes textual and photographic records pertaining to three distinct projects: the restorations of two churches decorated by architect and artist Guido Nincheri (1885-1973), who also contributed to their architectural design, Sainte-Amélie in Baie-Comeau, Québec (1938-1939) and Notre-Dame-de-la-Défense, Montréal (1919), as well as the curatorial work on a 2001 exhibition of Guido Nincheri’s work held in Montréal. The conservation and restoration of Nincheri’s frescoes, found in both churches, represent the majority of the records and highlight the medium’s specificity and the issues surrounding the conservation of artworks in spaces open to the public.
