Summary:

The reality of contemporary Italian cities is characterized by an expansion that is often declined in terms of speculative and random. To provide a sense of the place to these sites, the new "semi-suburban" traits similar to the suburbs of France or Germany were, on the other hand, one of the primary goals of the works of Studio Caprioglio in the last decade and collected in this monograph. The context is that of the Venetian plain and the work is inspired by a "horizontal horizon reference" to which the planarity of the landscape immediately goes. Studio Caprioglio's projects know to include space and integrate it, so that each building, whether linear or central, can find its proper location. In the various works, the Town Hall of S. Michele al Tagliamento, the Hotel Novotel and the project for the Mestre Station, the residential complex of cooperative houses in Asseggiano and so on. Open to research and experimentation, sensitivity for the space-object relationship, attention to sustainability and, more generally, a wide variety of approaches to traditional architectural vocabulary methods, with the ability to elaborate conventions and modern influences, from Aldo Rossi to Mario Botta and the Swiss rationalists of the Seventies to Giuseppe Terragni, transforming them into something new, in 'urban gestures worthy of being called urbanism
