In 1992 the Community Design Center of Pittsburgh launched the new urban housing competition, seeking designs for new housing on a vacant hillside site in Pittsburgh's Garfield neighborhood. The winning entry would be built and put on the market. More than 350 submissions were received from the United States and six foreign countries. Details of the winning design, along with sampling from other entries, are presented.
