"This final part of the PhotoWorks 'In-Site' project brings together new photographic works by Garry Fabian Miller commissioned in response to Petworth and the legacy of Turner, who painted at the house during the 1820s and 1830s. It also includes a major new essay by eminent art historian Professor David Alan Mellor, who considers Fabian Miller's work within a 'psychogeography' of Petworth's history and culture. Mellor's text follows a connecting thread that leads through art, science, social reform and the work of many artists. In particular, the affinities that exist between the diverse individuals who punctuate his historical narrative, as artists and explorers of space, place and the natural universe coincide around ideas and images of light.
