Summary:

"The seven positions featured here document the wealth of aesthetic strategies available to photographic artists today. They represent a clear rejection of the naive documentarism of the 19th century, to which they allude at most with a certain affectionate irony. Major themes include not only differences in the way objects are viewed - differing photographic strategies and vocabularies - but also the artist's self-reflection on the categorical parameters of the medium itself. Things are observed, registered, staged, documented and estranged from their usual context; they are actors upon the stage of everyday reality in a medium whose psychological and philosophical dimensions are taking on increasing importance. These photos call upon the viewer to reject the unambiguous view and to reflect upon the nature of the objects depicted."--BOOK JACKET.
