Presents a collection of essays by various authors dealing with the life, work, and influence of the Dutch artist Hans Vredeman de Vries (1526-1609), one of the most significant figures of the Northern Renaissance in Europe. He is known especially for his architectural drawings, prints, and paintings. The book was issued on the occasion of an exhibition held at the Weserrenaissance-Museum Schloss Brake and the Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp and includes a catalogue raisonné of the artist's work. The catalogue lists 213 works with numerous black and white illustrations and 117 in color.
