Orginally planned as a work in 4 parts: Series 1: Wasserthiere; Series 2: Vögel; Series 3: Säugere; and Series 4: Insectenwelt. Only series 1 and 2 were published.
Binding: Loose-leaf portfolio with front covers illustrated with full color representations of a dragon rising from the sea. Linen ties still present: top, bottom and front edge.

Biographical note:

Anton Seder was a painter from Munich who became the first director of the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. The academy was founded in 1890, by the city of Strasbourg, as part of a plan for the artistic revival of the region. He also created the decorative ceramic panels which still embellish the front of the building today.
