Summary:

Richly illustrated edition that reviews 26 years of production by architects Fanucci (b. Brazil) and Ferraz (b. Brazil 1956) as partners in the acclaimed Brasil Arquitetura Studio, based in SÀo Paulo. With introductions by the Bahian architect JoÀo da Gama Filgueiras Lima (Lel) and the Dutch professor Max Risselada and critical analysis by Cecilia Rodrigues dos Santos and Vasco Caldeira, it offers a broad picture of their production. Apart from their residential, industrial and public projects, the book reveals how Brasil Arquitetura Studio became a reference in restoration, renovation and intervention, mainly in buildings for cultural use, as museums, theatres and cultural centres. According to Cecilia Rodrigues, the guideline for the architects' work is a strong connection between history of architecture and Brazilian culture in its different moments and styles. Almost 15 years of living and working with the architect Lina Bo Bardi [1914- 1992] (in projects as SESC Pompia and the Historical Center of Salvador) also left deep marks. Among other projects, the book mentions the Brazilian Afro Museum (Museu Afro Brasil), in Ibirapuera Park (Sao Paulo), the Rodin Museum, in Salvador, Conjunto KKK, and the revitalization of Gelbes Viertel (or Yellow District) in Berlin - winner of an international contest. Their furniture design and production, at the Barana Joinery, is also presented, 'Marcenaria Barana', a joinery of manufactured furniture designs they started with Marcelo Suzuki in 1986 as an extension of "Brasil Arquitectura. .
