Summary:

Combining tools of the symbology of images with sociology of art, Massé explores the problem of authority identity as well as the aesthetic and symbolic relationships between the architectonic space and the photographic image, integrating with intellectual originality and audacity different methodological options in the study of photography in the Mexico City house of Juan Antonio Azurmendi. Sociologist Masse explains -"Some years ago I discovered a rich photographic archive (372 crystal plates in total) dating late 19th century and early 20th century, that I decided to attribute to Juan Antonio Azurmendi, as I knew they were his property. Almost 40% of the images show in detail his house constructed in 1896-1897, as well as scenes of his family and domestic services. I decided to focus my attention in the architectonic experience... analyzing the selected photographs as exceptional testimonies"
