Summary:

The book, a posthumous homage to priest Antonio San Cristóbal illuminates the end of the Mudejar-Gothic-Rennaicenece style period and the beginning of the baroque architecture in the Colonial metropolitan area. Author San Cristóbal Sebastian, recognizes in his study the contribution of George Kubler's thesis with its wide current historiographical vision and deepening of the colonial architecture. It also acknowledges the influence of the "Art and Use of Architecture" treaty by Spanish Augustinian friar Lorenzo de San Nicolás. Analytical and descriptive knowledge of the colonial architecture is complemented by the interpretive analysis of development followed, i.e. the long continuity of constructive and valuable contributions of the great builders. San Cristóbal's analytical and descriptive knowledge of the colonial architecture is complemented by the interpretive analysis of development followed by the long continuity of constructive and valuable contributions of the great "alarifes" (builders).
