Summary:

The premiere, in 1896, of a few-seconds-long film, Canada's first, called "The Kiss". The sprouting of makeshift picture houses across the country, with exotic names like the Dreamland, the Palace and the Bijou. Romantic melodramas, train robberies, fires, carnivals, hockey and royal visits. Canada's first nude scene. All these and more appear in this fascinating compilation of early Canadian movies. The commentary is by veteran filmmaker Gordon Sparling, who knew many of the enterprising film pioneers. This is a nostalgia trip that no one should miss.--container
