David Chipperfield : form matters.
New York, NY : Michael Blackwood Productions, ©2011.
1 videodisc (58 min., 52 sec.) : sound, color ; 4 3/4 in.
David Chipperfield is allowed to explain in his words what is form in architecture in his point of view. Why a building looks like that, what is the materiality of the building, not just the structure. Form and matter, why the building is in that form and material. Drawings of the buildings explain and reduce the architecture. In 1980s the modern architecture was in its lowest popularity and Chipperfield start asking why he resisted using "traditional" architectural elements in his design. He talks about his projects or ideas displayed in an exhibit hall in Pizza, Italy.
