Summary:

The present book gathers in one volume the professional career and patrimonial legacy of architect Ricardo Larraín Bravo (b. Chile 1879-1945), considered one of the most important architects of the 1920's and early 1930's in Chile and whose architecture exemplifies the early 20th century trends in Art-Nouveau and Neoclassic expressions and Art-Deco tendencies. In his professional career architect Larraín Bravo represented a modern and most advanced mentality against his colleagues and related social groups, particularly in the field of institutional management of public housing, his passionate entrepreneurial responsibility for quality competition and his dedication to introduce avant-garde technological developments in his buildings. One facet highlighted by the book is the admirable social concern he had as a result of his strict Catholic formation. He designed housings for low income factory workers in the beneficiary institution "Población León XIII", a pioneering initiative implemented long before any other country in the Americas.
