Audio recording of a lecture about three generations of Québec architects: Amable, Louis-Zéphirin, and Joseph-Zéphirin Gauthier. Raymonde Gauthier (no relation) discusses the ecclesiastical, institutional, and residential buildings they built during the 19th and 20th centuries. The family is responsible for the École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Montréal and numerous residential buildings in Outremont. The event was the second in a series of lectures entitled "L'essor d'une ville et la naissance de ses banlieues" = "Building Montréal : the growth of the metropolis" which were presented in conjunction with the exhibition "Montréal Métropole, 1880-1930". Recorded on May 14, 1998 at the Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montréal. Includes introductory remarks by Nancy Dunton.
