Summary:

Life and work of 10 Argentinean contemporary architects: Eduardo Catalano; Csar Pelli; Emilio Ambasz; Eduardo Elkouss; PfZ Arquitectos (Juan Pfeifer, Oscar Zurdo, Eduardo Di Clérico, Walter Pfeifer, Amelia Qüesta); and Juan Lucas Young, whose life and work has "cross and overlaped with the political and economic history of Argentina." Although they represent 3 generations (there is a difference of age between Eduardo Catalano and Juan Lucas Young of 46 years) they have in common the strong relation between the critical moments in their trips, immigrations or exiles and the sequence of political crisis in Argentina for the past 6 decades. These featured architects are totally identified with the problems of our time: global warming, the energy crisis, the scarcity of water, the uncontrolled exploitation of oil and other non-renewable natural resources, overpopulation, pollution of the natural resources, and the need to democratize public space and to revitalize the historical helmets of the cities. Their ideas and designs are eco-friendly, way beyond the traditional typology of the legendary modern movement and the International Style.
