"Metal unto art, an architectural expression with new type forms ... presenting two buildings, the work of Messrs. Miller and Pflueger, architects. Lindgren and Swinerton, Inc., builders, constructed these buildings. The photographs reproduced are the work of Gabriel Moulin and Roger Sturtevant of Carmel. Herbert Ridelstein designed the cover. The type was composed by J.F. Bartholomew and the print impressions are on Zellerbach stock. The book was printed by the Mercury Press, with the engravings by Sterling Engraving Company. The metal work shown was executed in the shops of Michel and Pfeffer Iron Works, San Francisco, by whom Metal unto art is presented."--Colophon.
Summary:

A promotional book issued by the firm of Michel and Pfeffer Iron Works to show off their decorative metalwork on two of San Francisco"s most noted Deco skyscrapers, designed by Miller and Pflueger, architects, and built by Lindgren and Swinerton, Inc. There is a short essay, "Impressions", by William I. Garren, but most of the book consists of b&w photographs of the iron decorative finishes to the buildings. Bound in cardboard covers with color Art Deco neo-Mayan design on front cover, and metal finish endpapers.
