Ad essi succedono i Chigi, che apportano novita nell'impianto della proprieta, riorganizzandola, modificano il Casino e dotano il complesso di nuove fabbriche. Protagonista di quest esperienza artistica totale come architettore e pittore, è Pietro da Cortona, noto per la grande produzione artistica: egli aviva qui il suo percorso fino a giungere ai vertici della cultura barocca.
