Four generations and five builders in Vaud countryside were a dynasty whose members ranked from students to carpenter architect, between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. For over one hundred and fifty years, they have participated in the construction of all or part of many buildings: churches, public houses, schools, but also private, agricultural and commercial buildings in the Cote Broye, through the Foot Jura and Lausanne. Small-scale entrepreneurs, they are authentic witnesses of evolutionary reality in the field of construction on the long duration. In tracing the work and career paths of five architects, the author puts into perspective the issues in the field of construction and the role of architects through two centuries of the profession.
