Summary:

The influence of visionary architect Cedric Price (b. Stone, Staffordshire 1934- d. London 2003) and radical architect and urbanist Rem Koolhas (b. The Netherlands 1944) in contemporary architecture is analyzed in the present study. Modern architecture during the 1955-1960 period is an "interval that coincides with the seminal texts of Reyner Banham and much of the architectural production of Cedric Price. This turning point, is considered as the origin of a possible shift "towards strategic" architecture that produces specific techniques of architecture. The origin of this movement coincides with the explosion of mass culture, the early attention to the landscape and the reconsideration of the modern principles about functionalism."
