Summary:

A Clockwork Jerusalem était la contribution du British Council à la Biennale d'architecture de Venise de l'année dernière, où le directeur Rem Koolhaas a invité chaque pavillon national à interpréter le thème "Absorber la modernité : 1914-2014". L'architecte Sam Jacob et le studio de design néerlandais Crimson Architectural Historians ont organisé une exposition qui explorait les origines du modernisme en Grande-Bretagne et son rôle dans le façonnement de la société au cours du siècle dernier, pour le meilleur et pour le pire. Nous avons trouvé que le mandat [de la Biennale de Venise] était vraiment intéressant et provocateur, mais qu'il se concentrait trop sur le modernisme en tant que style architectural. Nous voulions plutôt nous pencher sur l'âme de ce mouvement", explique Wouter Vanstiphout de Crimson Architectural Historians, à la AA Gallery, avant l'ouverture de l'exposition ce week-end.
