This book rescues the work and history of the architects who were exiled in Mexico as a result of the Republican defeat in the Spanish Civil War. The work recounts the Republican diaspora that led to the exile of fifty Spanish architects. Mexico received the largest contingent of Spanish architects in exile: a total of twenty-five. The exiled architects in Mexico can be grouped into four generations: 1. First generation (born between 1885 and 1890): Francisco Azorín Izquierdo (Teruel 1885-México 1975), Cayetano de la Jara y Ramón (Valencia 1888-México 1960), Bernardo Giner de los Ríos García (Madrid 1888-México 1970), Tomás Bilbao Hospitalet (Bilbao 1890- México 1954) and Roberto Fernández Balbuena (Madrid 1890-México 1966). 2. Third generation (born between 1906 and 1911): José Caridad Mateo (La Coruña 1906-México 1997), Jaime Ramonell Gimeno (Murcia 1906-México 1991), Arturo Sáenz de la Calzada Gorostiza (Álava 1907-México 2003), Juan Bautista Larrosa Domingo (Lérida 1907-México ca. 1940), Francisco Detrell Tarradell (Santiago de Cuba 1908-México ca. 1990), Enrique Segarra Tomás (Valencia 1908-Veracruz 1988), Esteban Marco Cortina (Reus 1909-México ca. 1965), Oscar Coll Alas (Oviedo 1909-Cuernavaca 1967), Tomás Auñón, Ovidio Botella Pastor (Alicante 1909-México 1996), Fernando Gay (Valencia 1909-México 1996), Félix Candela Outeriño (Madrid 1910-Raleigh 1997), Eduardo Robles Piquer (Madrid 1911-Caracas 1993) and Juan Rivaud Valdés (Madrid 1910-México 1993). 4.
