The richness of the heritage of Touraine, of which the Château de Chenonceau is one of the jewels, owes a part of its celebrity to the Renaissance constructions. The territory presented here, however, contains, at all times, movable objects and buildings of great interest. Through a selection of works from a systematic inventory covering sixteen municipalities in the canton of Bléré, this work invites you to discover the remarkable buildings that structure the wine and cereal landscape of the south of the Loire-Touraine region. Crossed from east to west by the Cher, the studied territory is located at the meeting of three natural regions. The river is the southern limit of the country of Amboise whose rocky hills shelter multiple cellars. Champeigne tourangelle, a vast limestone plateau with a strong agricultural dominance, is punctuated by large farms, some of which are dated here for the first time by dendrochronology, revealing their unsuspected antiquity. To the east, the wooded valleys of Céré-la-Ronde mark the northern limit of the Gâtine of Montrésor from where one discovers the spectacular castle of Montpoupon. Following the course of the Cher, built between 1836 and 1841 to facilitate navigation along the canal of Berry, many castles and remarkable houses were built in the 19th century. To the south, overlooking a part of the Indre valley, the village of Courçay invites the visitor to take the paths of a listed natural site. The Inventory identifies, studies and disseminates the artistic heritage of France. The Images du Patrimoine show a selection of the most beautiful monuments and works of each region.--Translation of summary by Espaces culturel E.
