Summary:
This book unpacks the comprehensive Gordon Matta-Clark collection at the CCA (CP138), opening it up to provisional readings from different points of view. Yann Chateigné reorganizes Matta-Clark’s library into areas of inquiry, from alchemy to psychoanalysis, as a framework for gathering traces—written and drawn—of his thinking. Hila Peleg reassembles hours of discarded film footage, challenging the notion of documentation and returning to view the physical and social contexts—the relational space—of Matta-Clark’s interventions. And from hundreds of travel photographs, Kitty Scott constructs a panorama of Matta-Clark’s visual notes on the world around him—a foil to his artworks. In foregrounding seemingly incidental parts of the collection, these studies manifest an exploratory way of working with archives, by which selecting, presenting, and writing are processes of ongoing research. Rather than synthesize, CP138 Gordon Matta-Clark: Readings of the archive by Yann Chateigné, Hila Peleg, and Kitty Scott extends the scope of what constitutes Matta-Clark’s body of work and thus the physical and intellectual terrain within which to situate it.

Summary:
The American artist Paul Chan has gained international acclaim for his video work, drawings and installations that blend a novel drafting aesthetic with philosophical reflections on politics, religion, sex and life. This beautifully produced monograph, published on the occasion of Chan's highly anticipated one-person exhibition at New York's recently unveiled New Museum of Contemporary Art, presents the first significant overview of Chan's work. Spanning from the late 1990s through today, it is named for Chan's most recent project, The 7 Lights (2005-07), a series of large-scale digital projections and drawings that "hallucinate" the Seven Days of Creation.

Summary:

Summary:
The postwar ascent of the curator as both cultural broker and creative participant in the work of art has seen the discipline acquire a brief but rich history of its own. Raising Frankenstein: Curatorial Education and Its Discontents unites curatorial studies with the increasingly debated subject of "the educational turn." Edited by Kitty Scott, whose own career as a curator of contemporary art has taken her from the National Gallery in Ottawa to the Serpentine Gallery in London and the Banff Centre in Alberta, it presents a collection of essays that explores the education and formation of curators. Writings on curatorial pedagogy by Barbara Fischer, Teresa Gleadowe, Francesco Manacorda, Cuauhtémoc Medina and Lourdes Morales offer an overview of recent thought on curatorial pedagogy, elucidating, defining and building on current debates surrounding this subject.
