Les œuvres sont mises en forme lentement et peuvent être reprises. Tout au long de ces années, Mark Manders a constitué un vocabulaire immédiatement identifiable où se côtoient murs en briques, cheminées d’usines, animaux, personnages, sachets de thé. Souvent plus petites que le réel qu’elles évoquent, ces œuvres interrogent tant la question de l’échelle que la tradition de la sculpture et la position de la figure humaine dans un univers énigmatique et fascinant. Les assemblages surprenants placent immédiatement le spectateur dans la position du rêveur éveillé qui entre dans un univers qui, bien que figuré, est entièrement mental.
