File documents Greenbird, an aviary for West Green House at Hartley Wintney, in Hampshire, England. Although construction did begin it is unclear whether the project was ever completed. The design for the aviary called for metal poles and a roof grid covered with a wire framework and nylon mesh. Conceptual sketches show various roof designs and a system for providing variable heights. The final design also included an artificial spring, stepped waterfall, rock pool, shallow pool, beach and marsh areas, and perches at various heights. Existing conditions material includes a colour aerial photograph mounted on press board and an existing survey plan. Design development drawings also include axonometric drawings of the structure and proposals for pools and waterfalls. Some material in this file was published in 'Cedric Price-Works II' (London: Architectural Press, 1984), 90, 99. Material in this file was produced between1961 and 1979, but predominantly between 1975 and 1979. File documents the unexecuted project, Potteries Thinkbelt, conceived for North Staffordshire, England, United Kingdom. The proposal called for a network of educational facilities for 20,000 students to be located over a 100 square mile area northwest of London. Moveable components, including fold-out lecture/demonstration units, rail-based teaching units, self-teach carrel units, faculty units, and housing units, were to be dispersed along the rail system. Existing conditions materials include regional aerial photographs with overlays of the rail system, and photographs, photo collages and panoramas of the region. Schematic sketches and drawings show the development of Price's design. Regional plans examine links between new and existing rail systems and national transportation networks and their projected use. Diagrammatic plans illustrate the relationships between recommended functions/activities attributed to specific areas. Detailed plans, sections, elevations, and axonometric drawings show housing types (sprawl, capsule, and crate), faculty and transfer areas in Madeley, Pitts Hill, and Meir. Other materials include regional land-use plans, photomontages with drawn perspectives, thumbnail sketches, life-span charts, conceptual sketches, aerial photographs and reprographic copies, some rendered and annotated. Ltd for the conversion of the Oxford Corner House, in London, England, United Kingdom, into a combined information, education and skill centre. The unrealized project was to include a 'self-pace public skill and information hive' with facilities for conferences, teaching, exhibitions, computer use, planetarium, audio-visual library, and public eating areas. The project included a movable floor system and projection screens. Reference material includes plans and details of London Electric Railway subway line, alterations to Oxford Street Corner House by J. Lyons and Co. Ltd., field notes, photographs and photomontages of site. Conceptual diagrammatic plans explore designs for the organization of activities.
