There are all kinds of houses—big houses, little houses, strange houses, old houses… But how do you decide which one is just right for you… In 'Houses for Sale' a family travels through architectural history searching for their perfect home. When nothing fits, they decide to build one together. But there is always more, to add, to change, until finally, they realize there is no such thing as the perfect home — it is the search that they truly enjoy. They end where they began, imagining what’s next. 'Houses for Sale' was written and illustrated by Michael Meredith and Hilary Sample of MOS. The book is both a children’s glossary of architectural form and the true story of lifelong curiosity.

Summary:
The Danish design scholar Birgit Lyngbye Pedersen discovered the work of Finn Juhl (1912-1989) when she was looking for a suitable sofa for her 1950s home. Juhl's furniture is undergoing a renaissance at present, and when his house in Charlottenlund--which he designed and decorated in 1941-42--came up for sale, Pedersen purchased the building and all of its furnishings, presenting it immediately afterward to the adjacent Ordrupgaard Museum. This monograph takes a look at Finn Juhl-who, alongside Hans J. Wegner and Arne Jacobsen, is one of the most important Danish modernists-in an agreeable, unpretentious fashion. Per H. Hansen, a renowned expert in Scandinavian furniture design, provides a humorous, extremely informative description of Juhl's unconventional character and his classic furniture

Summary:
Scholar and historian Christopher Long turns his attention to the little-known German-born architect and designer Jock Peters (1889–1934). Long's engaging study introduces us to the modernist's architectural work in Hamburg, Germany, before World War I, and also to Peters's work created after he immigrated to America in 1922. Most notable are his interiors for the once-famous Hollander department store in New York City and for Bullock's Wilshire in Los Angeles (the building was recently restored by Southwestern Law School). Both projects brought him international recognition. Peters also designed a dynamic sales office building for the short-lived Maddux Air Lines, as well as stores and houses for the developer William Lingenbrink, a major supporter of the burgeoning modernism in Southern California. Aside from his architectural work, Peters designed film sets for Famous Players-Lasky (later Paramount Pictures), working in the famed art department of Hans Dreier. Despite his early death, Peters managed to leave his mark on the modernist landscape in Southern California at a time when the new style was just emerging.
