Some of the photographs are altered, many are Xeroxed and drawn upon with coloured pencils. The title refers to the “elemental fragments which emerge out of the time-worn existence of buildings.” These images led to the creation of a project, Construction, 1975-1977, in which Charney explores the forms of these original buildings through sketches and then the construction of wooden sculptures.
