This collection, The Islamic City, containing twelve papers presented at the Meeting of the Near Eastern History Group p at Oxford in 1965, fills a notable void. It examines varied aspects of the major cities located in Persia, Iraq, Syria, and Egypt and, in one section, even compares them with their Chinese counterparts.
